Our Mission
Create an environment that fosters a healthy
economy in Sevier County.
EDC Profile
The EDC is a consortium of private businesses,
public sector organizations, and individuals who have an interest in
business growth.
Representatives from industries such as banking,
manufacturing, real estate, construction, engineering, retail, and
government created a forum to discuss, debate, and work to implement
this plan.
With Sevier County becoming more attractive for residential
and economic growth, these individuals recognized the need to
communicate, organize, and prepare in ways that will ensure smart
growth that reflect the values outlined below.
The EDC is organized with an
executive committee made up of the general board membership. EDC
membership is open to all companies, organizations, and
persons. The entire
board membership meets once a quarter with the executive committee
meeting the other two months.
The EDC is a self-funded organization supported by membership
fees.
Governing Values
Cooperation and Respect: more can be
accomplished as we work together, communicate with each other, and
respect diverse points of view. We are not afraid of
meaningful debate in an atmosphere of civil discourse and mutual
respect.
Quality of Life: we recognize the wonderful
circumstances we know and enjoy and look for ways to balance
business growth with preserving lifestyle options. We
recognize the environment as a major component of our lifestyle and
the need to act as a steward of natural resources to protect rural
lifestyles.
Family Sustaining Wages: we desire to see
that families who live here know and those that want to settle in
this valley have the opportunity to support families and the
activities that make family life a positive and uplifting
experience.
Expanding Services: we recognize that
improving our quality of life requires more choices in education,
all forms of health care, consumable goods, cultural events,
telecommunications, and reliable utility services. As our
economic activity grows, more of these basic services will likewise
expand and increase the livability of our
community. |
